SoFA is proud to announce the second year of the Carters Lake MiniDH Series. After a successful 2007, the race series is back to grow for 2008.Of the previously published five events on the schedule, two of them are being cut. After a lot of consideration, it was determined that three races at a small venue is better.
Here are the dates for the three races:
1. 6/7/08 2. 10/4/08 3. 11/02/08
The three races chosen are later in the year and takes advantage of the year-round riding conditions in Georgia when more northernly venues are into snow season.
The first race on June 7th is a dual headed weekend with a XC race being held on Sunday June 8th.
Just a friendly reminder to pay for your park usage permits when riding the DH trail. The USACE has been kind enough to let us build downhill trails, let's show them that we appreciate it. Day use fee is only 4 dollars per vehicle and the pay box is located by the boat ramp / shuttle pick up area. Year passes can be purchased online for only 30 dollars and they are good for any Army Corp property in the country. Thanks!
Carters Lake USACE remider to pay for parking
Also don't forget that this weekend we need your help building a second downhill trail at Carters Lake. We will be camping Friday and Saturday night for those interested. USACE will provided camping and parking for free as well as a complimentary lunch on Saturday for all Volunteers. Saturday night EMBA will provide voluteers with complimentery dinner and bonfire at the Woodring Campground just down the road. This is important that we show the Army Corp how many of us are committed to building trails like this. It will open us more opportunities for the future of freeriding in the South East.
EMBA and SoFA will be teaming up to work at Ridgeway Park at Carters Lake in Ellijay. We will be building the beginner downhill trail and doing some xc reroutes.
Army Corps of Engineers will be furnishing FREE primitive camping and BBQ Saturday afternoon and EMBA will be providing food for Saturday night.
We will be having people out working and riding Friday thru Sunday so come on up if you get a chance.
Help out as much as you can and show the Army Corp that you support and want more Downhill MTB trails in Georgia!
